Be Careful Talking to Insurance Agents After a Wreck
Most people have been told they are supposed to inform their insurance agents after an accident. This is good advice. In fact, if you wait to tell your insurance company that you were in a collision, they may try to deny your claim.
However, it can be a good idea to contact a personal injury lawyer in Los Angeles before you speak with insurance agents. Representatives for insurance companies – even your insurance company – are primarily concerned with the company’s bottom line. This means they may try to limit the compensation you receive. Agents may attempt to claim that:
- You were not badly injured in the accident
- Your vehicle was not actually damaged
- You were at fault for the accident
Take steps to protect yourself from these claims by working with a legal professional right now.

Avoid Giving Progressive a Recorded Statement in Los Angeles
Insurance agents for Progressive will likely ask you to give them a recorded statement after you speak with them. The experts recommend that you do not give them this statement, especially if they represent the other driver.
Recorded statements are not used to help you. They are only useful to the insurance company if they want to deny your claim. Note that, in some cases, you may be required to provide a recorded statement to your own insurance company. Even in this case, you should carefully watch what you say and speak with a car accident lawyer first.
If you must give a recorded statement, make sure that you:
- Keep your answers short
- Do not provide extra information
- Do not downplay the severity of your injuries
- Do not accept fault for the accident
Go over more steps for handling recorded statements for Progressive Insurance by contacting the Simmrin Law Group. You can reach us when you need help the most by contacting Simmrin Law Group.
