In spite of most companies stressing the importance of safety on the job to their employees, and taking every precaution to prevent workers from getting hurt, accidents on the job can and do happen.
The Daily Bulletin reports that two UPS workers were killed on the job at the company’s package delivery hub at the Ontario International Airport on Monday, November 25th.
Steve Gaut, a spokesperson for UPS, told reporters that the workplace accident involved two part-time workers. Both men were crushed when the tractor-like vehicle known as a tug tipped over onto them. The tug is used to pull dollies that are loaded with packages to and from airplanes taking off and landing at the airport.
Authorities have identified the victims as Noe Tinoco Jr., 23, of San Bernardino, and Austin Stache, 20, of Rancho Cucamonga. One of the victims was driving the tug while the other was riding on the vehicle at the time of the accident.

Cal/OSHA spokesman, Luke Brown, told reporters that because the accident is still currently under investigation, he couldn’t comment on the cause of the accident. According to Brown, a full report would not be released for six months. The public would be made aware at that time the cause of the accident and whether UPS was cited in the case.
Go Fund Me pages have been set up for the families of both men to help assist with funeral and other expenses.
