A three-vehicle collision in Valley Center earlier this month has resulted in the death of an 85-year-old man.
The NBC affiliate station in San Diego, KNSD, reported that the crash happened along Valley Center Road on March 3rd, at approximately 7:00 P.M.
According to a statement issued by Officer Mark Latulippe with the California Highway Patrol, the 85-year-old victim had been driving his Ford Ranger pickup truck northbound around a bend along Valley Center Road near Waa’ash Road. For an unknown reason, the Ranger collided head-on with a Chevrolet Tahoe traveling southbound. Also involved in the crash was a Chevrolet Silverado that was directly behind the Tahoe.
Officer Latulippe said that the northbound Ranger pickup drifted into the southbound lanes and sideswiped the Tahoe before crashing into the Silverado head-on. All three vehicles came to a stop, blocking both northbound and southbound lanes of Valley Center Road.
Authorities say that the 85-year-old male driver of the Ranger died at the scene of the accident. His identity was not released at the time of the report.
