Review the Causes of Bicycle Accidents in Los Angeles
As we mentioned, sometimes bicycle accidents are caused by motor vehicle drivers. For example, some accidents occur if a driver is not paying attention and clips a biker. However, in other situations, the bicyclist can cause a collision. Bikers cause accidents if they:
- Roll through a stop sign
- Do not legally yield
- Turn without making a signal
- Operate their bike on the wrong side of the road or against traffic
- Don’t use the bike lane
Note that only adult bicyclists can be responsible for causing an accident in most cases. Children who are riding a bike are generally not subjected to laws on comparative negligence in Los Angeles. If you hit a child on a bike, you can be held solely responsible for the collision.
