Sun Glare Can Increase the Odds of an Accident in Los Angeles
Many drivers think about rain and snow when they consider weather hazards in Los Angeles. While major storms can reduce visibility and increase the dangers of operating a vehicle, they are not the only hazards you can face while driving.
Sun glare can make it difficult to see other vehicles ahead of you. Glare can also completely obscure pedestrians in some situations. Generally, sun glare is a larger problem in the mornings when the sun is coming up and, in the evenings, as it sets.
However, while sun glare can make it harder for you to see what’s in front of you, it is often not considered an acceptable reason to strike someone else in Los Angeles.

Responsibility in Accidents Cause by Sun Glare in Los Angeles
If you were in an accident caused by sun glare, you should be aware that you can still be held responsible for the collision. In fact, the court system generally holds drivers responsible for operating their vehicles safely, even when facing sun glare.
Note that you can take steps to reduce the odds that you will be in a sun glare related accident. If you frequently notice sun glare while on your commute, you may want to:
- Change the route you take to get to school or work
- Purchase and wear polarized sunglasses
- Leave a significant following distance between other vehicles
Drivers in California are legally expected to take steps to reduce the effects of sun glare to limit the chances that they will be involved in an accident. If you were in an accident on a sunny day, you can get help by contacting Simmrin Law Group.
Establishing Liability in Cases Involving Sun Glare in Los Angeles
Sometimes, other drivers claim that they were not responsible for an accident because of the sun. A car accident lawyer in Los Angeles can help in this situation. We can work to show that the other driver was responsible for the collision, so you can get compensation for your injuries.
Note that California is a comparative negligence state. This means that you can be held partially at fault for an accident and still get compensation for your losses. Responsibility for an accident will be split into different percentages.
You will get a smaller amount of compensation if you are partially at-fault for a wreck. If you are 20% to blame for a collision, for example, you would only be able to get 80% of the total possible compensation for your losses.
