A chain reaction of two multi-car accidents last Monday evening, leading to 6 people being injured. Two were hospitalized for their injuries, while four others had injuries that were minor enough to not need hospitalization.
The incident happened at about 8:10 p.m. north of 23rd Street, near the Carson exit, according to this report from The Daily Breeze.
It all started with a GMC pickup truck that had been stopped on the right of the freeway, northbound. When the pickup tried to re-enter traffic at a slow speed, it was struck by a Lexus sedan. The pickup, forced by the impact of that crash, lunged forward and hit a Peterbilt semi, according to the California Highway Patrol.
This first crash, involving three vehicles, led to a second one right after it. A Honda Prelude stopped for the first accident and was hit by a Ford Mustang. Because of this collision, the Mustang lost control and hit a Kia Soul.
All in all, there were two accidents that occurred, one causing the next, and there were three vehicles involved in each accident, totaling 6 vehicles involved. Six people were also injured as a result of these two multi-car accidents.
The northbound lanes of the 110 Freeway were closed for hours. They did not open until about 11:45 Monday night.
