On the busy freeways of Los Angeles, it’s easy for cars to get tangled up in an existing accident. Sometimes this is because they can’t move out of the way in time thanks to surrounding traffic. Sometimes it’s because of a lack of attention. When multi-car pileups happen, it makes it difficult to determine fault in civil cases.
One accident that left two dead is going to leave insurance companies and families with a lot of questions. According to KTLA, seven vehicles got involved in a crash that started out as a solo-vehicle collision. The accident happened just after midnight on the 210 west of the 57 Freeway.

As police were heading to the scene, they got reports of other vehicles crashing into the first one. The victims who died were part of these secondary crashes. Police believe that one of the fatalities happened when one of the drivers was thrown or struck into the opposing lanes and hit by a car on that side of the road. The other fatality was found in their car.
Police have not revealed how the initial driver crashed in the first place.
Collisions like this usually involve multiple insurance companies all vying to put the blame on other drivers as much as possible so that they don’t have to pay out as much. There are also complex procedures for determining who is at fault and how much responsibility they have for a crash. Having a skilled personal injury attorney on your side can help guide you through the complexity and protect you from getting less than you deserve.
