Actor Kevin Hart is returning to work after a horrific accident that happened in early September.
MSN Entertainment reports that Hart, along with two friends, were riding in Hart’s 1970 Plymouth Barracuda near his home in Calabasas when the crash happened. Hart was not driving at the time when the vehicle crashed through a fence, going off the road and into a ravine.
Hart’s security detail removed the actor from the crash scene and to his home before the arrival of emergency crews and paramedics. Hart was left critically injured with a spine that was broken in three places and required surgery.
After a 10-day hospital stay, he was transported to an inpatient facility. After weeks of physical therapy, Hart’s doctors gave the comedic actor the go-ahead to return to work last week.
A representative for Hart told reporters that Hart is grateful to be alive and wants to make the most of it. Producers for the sequel to Jumanji recently launched a publicity campaign. Co-stars in the project include actors Danny DeVito, Dwayne Johnson, and Danny Glover. All of the actors and crew on the project reduced their own work schedules to accommodate Hart’s needs.

Because of the nature of the accident, representatives for the two others who were in the car and were also injured are expected to file a lawsuit. Attorneys for the plaintiffs allege that there were no airbags or safety harnesses in the vintage vehicle, which also had a powerful 720 horsepower engine, making it unsafe to be driven on public roadways.
