It can be nerve-wracking for any driver to see the flash of red and blue lights in their rearview mirror. Most motorists understand that they were probably speeding or were observed by police while making some other type of moving violation. For others, however, they may know that if they are pulled over, they could face arrest for something more serious than just a traffic ticket. They might even attempt to flee.

That may have been what happened when a park ranger in Cutten attempted to pull a driver in a pickup that was reported stolen last week. KRCTV reports that the incident occurred on Wednesday, April 29th, at approximately 8:00 p.m.
According to a statement issued by the California Highway Patrol, a park ranger attempted to pull the truck over along Highway 101. Instead of pulling over for the ranger, the driver took off. Police were notified of the situation and initiated the chase of the stolen vehicle.
Eventually, police deployed spike strips to stop the stolen vehicle, and both tires on the right side of the white pickup truck were disabled. The suspect driver lost control and crashed the truck into the fence at a home near the intersection of Walnut Drive and Eureka Drive outside of Eureka.
The CHP reports that beanbag rounds were fired at the suspect at one point before being taken into custody. At the time of the report, law enforcement officers were still trying to determine the identity of the suspect driver.
It is unknown whether drugs or alcohol impairment played a role in the incident.
