What to Do After You Get into an Uber Accident
If you are involved in a car accident when you are traveling by Uber, try to remain calm. At this point, here are the things you should do:
Call 911
Provide a 911 operator with details about your rideshare accident. In addition, get the contact information of the Uber driver and anyone else involved in your accident. You should also look for any witnesses who saw the accident and get their contact information.
Receive Medical Care
Do not forgo medical care following your Uber accident. You can go to a hospital, undergo evaluations, and receive treatments. Keep track of any medical documents you receive, as these can serve as evidence if you ultimately file a personal injury lawsuit.
Talk to Police
Police officers will arrive at the accident scene after you call 911. Explain what happened during the accident. The police officers will produce a report, and you can request a report from the Costa Mesa Police Department in the days after your accident.

What You Need to Do to File an Uber Accident Lawsuit
California law states you have a maximum of two years from the date you suffer an Uber accident injury to pursue damages. If you choose not to comply with the statute of limitations of California, you cannot request compensation from anyone responsible for your injury at a later time. This also means that you are 100% responsible for the costs of treating your injury.
Your attorney will file your Uber accident personal injury lawsuit based on California’s statute of limitations. They will work with you to build a case that compels a judge or jury to award you the full damages you request. Your lawyer will encourage you to ask for economic and non-economic damages, too.
There is no limit on the amount of economic and non-economic damages you can seek in an Uber accident lawsuit. You can request economic damages based on your medical bills, lost wages, and other losses that you can quantify. Comparatively, you can pursue non-economic damages for subjective losses like pain and suffering.

How the Defendant in an Uber Accident Lawsuit Will Try to Settle the Case Right Away
The driver responsible for your Uber accident may try to contact you in the days after the incident. They may offer you a settlement in the hopes that you will accept less money than what you could get if you file a personal injury lawsuit. By accepting the settlement, you give up your right to pursue the maximum amount of compensation.
If the Uber driver in your accident proposes a settlement, do not approve the proposal. Instead, contact a rideshare accident lawyer, and they can evaluate the settlement offer with you. The attorney can give you insights into what can happen if you accept, reject, or counter the proposal.
You should never accept a settlement proposal if it falls short of your expectations. If you are not happy with a settlement offer, you can decline it and continue with your litigation. Your lawyer will keep working with you to help you prepare for your trial and make sure that you can present a compelling argument to a judge or jury.

What to Expect if Your Uber Accident Case Goes to Trial
Your lawyer can answer frequently asked questions about the trial process and other aspects of your Uber accident case. They will make sure that you are ready for any legal challenges that come up. Your attorney will walk you through each stage of your litigation, and when your trial arrives, you will be prepared for anything that could happen.
During your Uber accident trial, your attorney and the defendant’s lawyer will share their respective arguments. Your attorney will explain to a judge or jury why you deserve to receive compensation, while the defendant’s lawyer will attempt to dispute this request. After a judge or jury hears from all parties involved in your case, they will make a decision.
A judge or jury may believe the defendant in your case was completely responsible for your Uber accident. If this occurs, they will award you damages. As soon as the defendant pays you the damages they owe, your case is closed.
