Very rarely does one come home to find a car crashed into their home, but such was what happened earlier this month. A single-vehicle crash over the weekend in a residential Rowland Heights neighborhood ended with a Toyota Corolla lodged into the side of a home on Saturday.
NBC’s Los Angeles affiliate, KNBC, reports that the incident happened on Saturday, April 18th, in a peaceful San Gabriel Valley community in the 2000 block of Blankenman Avenue. Residents were alarmed when a speeding vehicle jumped the curb, became airborne, and was lodged in the side of a house. Officials say that the family was at home at the time of the accident, but no one inside was injured.

From the video footage taken from a security camera system at the residence, the sound of a revving engine and screeching tires can be heard before a car was seen sailing over a retaining wall and striking the home. A few moments later, the security camera footage shows the driver and a passenger getting out of the disabled vehicle and fleeing the scene of the crash.
Photographs of the incident were released in a tweet via the California HighwayPatrol’s Santa Fe Springs Station. Eyewitnesses have not been able to provide information about the driver and passenger who fled.
So far, no arrests have been made in connection with the crash. The CHP is asking anyone with any information to contact the Santa Fe Springs Station Unit at (562) 868-0503.
