Hit-and-run accidents are dangerous for several reasons. First, if an individual is injured due to the accident from which the assailing driver fled, the victim may not receive timely medical care. Secondly, the individual who fled the scene may cause further damage due to negligence or unknown mechanical damage to their vehicles. Overall, it is simply good policy to take responsibility, stay at the scene, and call law enforcement in the event of an accident.

Officials in the Newport Beach Police Department say that the accident happened on Tuesday, May 26th, at approximately 10:30 a.m. when a Range Rover and a Ferrari were traveling at a high rate of speed traveling westbound on Pacific Coast Highway (PCH). The two vehicles crashed into two additional vehicles.
Newport Police spokesperson, Heather Rangel, told reporters that the driver of the Range Rover stayed at the scene of the crash while the driver of the Ferrari fled the scene. The female driver was later found by police at her home and placed under arrest on suspicion of evading police and leaving the scene of an accident involving property damage. Authorities had not released her name at the time of the report.
Three people in the two other vehicles were reported to have suffered injuries in the accident. Those who were hurt were taken to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
All lanes of PCH were closed from Dover Drive to Tustin Avenue on both the eastbound and westbound sides of the street while police investigated the scene of the crash.
The accident is still currently under investigation.
