A single-vehicle accident has left the driver dead in Canyon Country, according to this report from The Signal. The incident was reported about 2:20 a.m. via a 911 call. Emergency response personnel were immediately sent out to the location of the accident, which was on southbound Highway 14, north of Sand Canyon Road. What they found upon arrival was gruesome, to say the least.
Police believe the vehicle left the roadway and onto the right shoulder first. This must have happened at a high rate of speed. The reason for this veering is unknown, perhaps the result of a misjudgment on the part of the driver, who has yet to be publicly identified by officials pending notification of kin. It’s also possible that the vehicle suffered some kind of malfunction, of course, although the amount of damage done to it will make figuring this out difficult.

Subsequently, the vehicle in question collided with a metal beam guard rail and overhead freeway sign pole. As a result of this crash, the vehicle was sheared into two pieces. The driver was killed in the accident as well. Thankfully, no one else was in the car at the time. The vehicle was left a mangled mess, so any other occupants would have been killed or severely injured as well.
