No one likes being pulled over by police. Seeing red and blue flashing lights in your rear view mirror can fill any driver with a sense of dread, even if they think that they’ve done nothing that would warrant being pulled over.
Whenever you hear sirens or see emergency lights behind you, the best policy is to always pull over to the shoulder as soon it’s safe to do so. According to a story appearing on the KTLA website, a man in Pasadena was killed after he led police on a 20-minute long pursuit on Friday.
A spokesperson for the Pasadena Police Department said in a statement that the incident happened at approximately 3:10 p.m. on Friday, May 8th, near the intersection of Walnut Street and Meredith Avenue. Officers attempted to pull over 47-year-old Lloyd Nelson. When Nelson refused to pull over his black four-door 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage, officers gave pursuit.
The police pursuit ended at approximately 3:35 p.m. when officers forced Nelson’s vehicle to crash by wedging the Mitsubishi between two police cruisers near the intersection of Corson Street and Allen Avenue. Nelson immediately jumped out of his car and began to open fire at officers.
