Guns and driving rarely mix well, and we have yet another example of that in today’s story from the Los Angeles Times. A father was killed and his two sons injured in a car-to-car shootout on the 60 Freeway in Hacienda Heights.
Officers from the California Highway Patrol came to the scene of the accident east of Crossroads Parkway. They found a white Chevrolet Avalanche damaged from a crash.

Inside the vehicle, they found the three victims. The two boys, aged 13 and 16, were still alive, but the driver was in terrible condition. Witnesses to the crash told the officers that they saw a car in the carpool lane shoot several times at the vehicle. The Avalanche lost control and hit a Kia before hitting a concrete wall.
The three victims were taken to the hospital for treatment. The boys are expected to survive, but the father died at the hospital. The driver of the Kia wasn’t injured.
Police are unsure if this was a case of road rage or not, but they are asking the public for any footage caught on video and for further witnesses. You can reach their office at 323-644-9550.
We wish to extend our condolences to the family of the victims and hope that the police find the responsible shooter and bring them to justice.
