California has seen more than its fair share of disasters over recent months. Wildfires coupled with high winds brought a great deal of destruction to our state last year, and now with the winter and spring rains, floods, landslides and other severe weather phenomena seem to be compounding already bad situations in many areas and making them even worse.
Such severe weather conditions and torrential rains that came as a part of a winter storm system in Marin County are now also being blamed for the death of a tow truck driver on Tuesday, February 26th.

Mercury News reports that the accident happened in Sausalito on Highway 101 just before 2:30 p.m. The driver of the tow truck had been responding to a call for a stranded motorist within the southbound lanes of the highway.
Officer Andrew Barclay with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) said that a pickup truck came up on the tow truck and stranded motorist, lost control of his vehicle and slammed into the tow truck driver, killing him.
The driver of the tow truck was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not released his identity.
The driver of the stranded vehicle had been standing along the roadside near the vehicles but was unhurt in the crash. The driver of the pickup truck was transported via ambulance to Marin General Hospital and was treated for minor injuries.
So far, authorities are fairly certain that the crash was directly related to the nearly 7 inches of rain that fell in the area. The accident is still currently under investigation.
So far, no charges have been filed in the case.
