Community outrage and support has led the family of a slain boy to offer a reward for information leading to the capture of his killer. KTLA reported on the tragedy and the response.
The mother was taking her son to school when a white Volkswagen station wagon cut her off on northbound 55 near Chapman Avenue. She made a gesture at the car. Then the station wagon pulled behind her and fired at least one shot into the vehicle, striking the boy.
The mother merged away from the area, but didn’t know her six-year-old son was shot until he complained his stomach hurt and she noticed the blood. She rushed him to the hospital where he died.
A fundraiser was started to pay for the boy’s funeral expenses, but the support from the community far surpassed their needs. Now the family is offering a reward using the extra money for any information leading to the arrest of the people who did this.
